MusicPosted by James Braun Thu, May 20, 2010 17:34:47 Ok new thing I think will return once in a while. Zzz, Dan and I hook up in a bedroom somewhere and make merry-go-round dj mixes, playing one track and then next in line and so forth. Maybe we'll even have others swing by.

Here's my take on 'Footcrab' with kind permission from the artist himself.

MusicPosted by James Braun Wed, November 18, 2009 20:44:51 An update on where to go this weekend..
Zzzune is playing at Ung Flugt's birthday party at Dunkel Friday. At the same time I'm playing at the Golden Gate in Berlin. On Saturday I will play at Renate with a great line-up as you can see on the above flyer.
Brandt Brauer Frick just did a video for their track Bop, directed by Daniel Brandt of Brandt Brauer Frick. I know from Daniel that it was quite the job to get all BBF's in place but the result is great. Visit their myspace and check out two new tracks on their Gym label as well.
MusicPosted by Zzzune Sun, November 01, 2009 00:40:13 Does it even make sense to stay at home on a saturday night only to read about club culture? Anyway, that what i'm doing. Tobias Rapp wrote a book on the Berlin club scene; Lost and Sound: Berlin, Techno, and the Easyjetset and Resident Advisor published an excerpt from it. No Photos allowed in Berghain so no photos here either.

I'll tell you more about this later - but for now I'll just mention that Omar-S is playing in Copenhagen on October 30th. Untill then... here's a chart:

Lately the bookers at Dunkel has been stepping things up a bit, presenting international names of high quality and this weekend is no exception. Affkt from Valencia, Spain, will be playing a three hour combined live and dj-set. He is invited by our own James Braun, who he remixed for his Lessons Ep. The vibe of that remix is a laid back, jazzy feeling inspirering an openmindedness towards various genres and sporting an obvious musicality leaving a lot of producers with much to whish for. As you can see in the short documentary above Affkt runs Barraca music along with Danny Fiddo. Barraca music is also the label where the two released one of this summers high points within left field house music, throw in some remixes by the likes of Ricardo Villalobos and Radio Slave and the only word to sufficiently describe Affkt and his Barraca music is hot! Thanks to Dunkel for bringing some of the spanish heat to Copenhagen this saturday.
MusicPosted by Zzzune Sun, October 11, 2009 17:30:19 For those of you of who missed Levon Vincent last night, here's a list of his favourite ten tracks. Superb.
MusicPosted by James Braun Tue, September 15, 2009 11:27:51 Finally, I'm back on the internet. It's been a long wait, but I haven't been too lazy. I've remixed Hannah Holland for Playtime Records and Malente & Dex featuring Bonde Do Role for Exploited, finished the Symphonia single for Tartelet and currently I'm working on an EP for Sleazetone Records.
Enough about me. This Friday the highly acclaimed Motor City Drum Ensemble is visiting Dunkel. His Raw Cuts #1-#6 have been on loads of chart the last year or so, remarkable for the ultra old school yet modern sound, which he releases on his own label MCDE.
1. Mike Shannon - Darkstar 3000 (Wagon Repair) 2. Motor City Drum Ensemble - Raw Cuts #6 (MCDE) 3. A Made Up Sound - Wire (Clone Basement) 4. James Braun - Jizz (Sleazetone) 5. Theo Parrish - Space Station (Sound Signature) 6. Phantogram - Bloody Palms (dOP remix) (BBE) 7. Jayson Brothers - Monster Box (MCDE) 8. Hannah Holland - What You Feel (James Braun remix) (Playtime) 9. Je Dàvu - Chaos At The Dam (Bangbang!) 10. Untold - Just For You (Hot Flush)
And finally a little teaser of what to expect from MCDE at Dunkel.
Motor City Drum Ensemble - Raw Cuts #1 (mp3 / zShare)
Tracklist 1. Intro 2. Boris Werner - Background Music 3. Santos - Hold 4. Sebo K, Metro - Saxtrack (Reeboot Twisted Fist Remix) 5. James Braun - Detroit 6. Peace Division - Beatz In Peacez 7. James Braun & Dan M - Lessons Pt. 1 8. Lauhaus - Give it up (Ray Okparalysed it)
MusicPosted by Zzzune Sun, July 26, 2009 01:24:36 Here's a list of my current favorite tracks when it comes to house and techno. I guess the over all theme of this chart is a return to old school house with a strong melody and a rugged groove - mastered to perfection by Levon Vincent, Rondenion and Boola who's tearing up floors for my current favorite label, LoMidHigh. Also on the list is the latest Ricardo Villalobs release on his own label, Sei Es Drum. Baile is a real off center electro track with endless bass variations and a lovely sloppy, somewhat misplaced vocal that makes this a truely unique track. The Johnny D track and Raw 2 are classic now-sound percussion house, the latter featuring a Burial sample for extra goosebump effect. The Lizard King is one of the largest tracks around right now, with it's +12 minutes of percussion driven funk and Jim Morrison vocal sample this one has the potential to turn club goers into animals!
Boola - Trompetre (LoMidHigh Ltd.) Unknown Artist - The Lizard King (White Label) Levon Vincent - Polar Bear Make Nice With That Sea Lion (Deconstruct) Unknown Artist - Balada Conducatorului (White Label) RV feat. Los Updates - Baile (Sei Es Drum) Spencer Parker - The Beginning (Buzzin' Fly) (Mp3 / zShare) JC Freaks - Source (Wandering) Unknown Artist - Raw 2 (White label) Johnny D - Brasil (Cocoon) (Mp3 / zShare) Rondenion - Wave Amplitude (Rush Hour) (Mp3 / zShare)
MusicPosted by Zzzune Thu, June 25, 2009 23:53:56 So, we're back from Sonár and could you imagine a more perfect way of coming down than listening to the master of spacious sounds, Moritz von Oswald? Yes, it's Mortiz of legendary techno pioneers, Basic Channel and Rhythm & Sound. Conveniently he is releasing a new album with his new project, Mortiz von Oswald Trio very soon and we'll give you a little prelisten.
